Will fraud and violence be resisted?
The 2007 General Election has come to an end. Voting will take place tomorrow, Monday, September 3. Many will give a sigh of relief because of what they considered to be an unusually long period between the announcement of Nomination Day on July 8 and Election Day (August 27) - almost two months.

'The hour draweth nigh'

September is the seventh month on the biblical (Jewish) calendar Tishri so, ironically, though the Prime Minister never initially wanted a September election, perhaps not knowing this fact, some would say the holding of elections this month is...

Getting it over with at last

Only he knows why, but God sure loves this country. Once more a potentially catastrophic hurricane headed straight for middle stump, swung away at the last minute and merely brushed us.

How the wind blows

Jamaicans will elect a parliament tomorrow. In 1991, Carl Stone reported that 60 per cent of Jamaicans felt that more women should be in leadership positions in politics. We will see if this is enough of a factor to re-elect Portia Simpson Miller as Prime Minister.

After the elections - then what?

"In all labour there is profit but idle talk leads only to poverty. The crown of the wise is their wealth of wisdom but the foolishness of self-confident fools is nothing but folly."
