Politicians never change
published: Sunday | September 2, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

Are we blinded so much by these politicians that common sense cannot prevail? Is it not obvious that a seat for them is more important than a bed for the victims of Hurricane Dean. At a time when there is still not full recovery and people are still in shelters across the island, all the politicians' efforts are focused on campaigning. This is a clear sign to me and should be to anyone who does not have a veil over their eyes. Where are the ones that say that they 'put people first', and also, whoever else wanna make a 'change'? The way I see it in Jamaica, the only thing that changes in politics over the years is the date and the names of the 'leaders'. I would love to make a vote, but as my grandmother would say, 'no better herring, no better barrel'.

I once said that we needed a change in the whole political arena, a whole new party. And guess what, we did get one: the NDM. But at the helm of said party were four leaders; two from each of the already reigning ones. That to me was incompetent. I still have a vote, but please Jamaica, give me someone to vote for.

I am, etc.,
