Robert Bailey, Freelance WriterSUPERCUP champions St. Elizabeth continued their impressive run of form in local cricket this season by whipping St. James by 10 wickets in the fourth round of the All-Island limited overs competition at Alpart yesterday.
St. James won the toss and chose to take first strike and were bowled out for paltry 87 in 28 overs with Shawn Findlay taking 3-9 and Ainsley Goff 2-9.
In reply, St. Elizabeth reached 88-0 in 13.2 overs. Openers Marlon Miller (48) and Tarique White (20) saw the team to a comfortable victory.
The day's other winners were Manchester, Police, Lucas and Melbourne.
AT KIRKVINE: Manchester defeated Boys' Town by 222 runs. Manchester first made 269 for nine from their 50 overs. Former national player Matthew Sinclair led the way for the hosts with 75 and he received good support from teammates David Powell (45) and Ziggy Levy (41).
In reply, Boys' Town were blown away for a mere 47 with Powell picking up 5-14 and Damaine Sangster 2-3.
AT MAXFIELD PARK: Police defeated Kingston and St. Andrew by eight wickets. Batting first, Kingston and St. Andrew were bowled out for 54 in 26 over. In reply, Police reached 56 for two in 15.3 overs.
AT MELBOURNE OVAL: Hosts Melbourne defeated St. Ann by seven wickets through the Duckworth/Lewis system after rain stopped play for more than an hour.
Set a revised target of 123 runs from 32 overs, Melbourne reached their target with the loss of three wickets in 25.2 overs.
Dwayne Thompson led the way for Melbourne with an unbeaten 54. St. Ann were earlier dismissed for 173.
AT NELSON OVAL: Lucas defeated St. Catherine Cricket Club by 51 runs after the game was reduced to 40 overs per side due to a late start.
Lucas made 187 for seven from 40 overs. Royan Smith (51) and Delroy Morgan (41 not out) were the top scorers for Lucas while Garth Garvey was the pick of the St. Catherine CC bowlers with 3-52.
At their turn at bat, St. Catherine were skittled out for 134 in 33.5 overs. Smith (5-36) and Kevin Murray (3-13) were top wickettakers for Lucas.
