'Babsy' says unity the way forward
published: Thursday | September 6, 2007

Rasbert Turner, Gleaner Writer

Spanish Town, St. Catherine:

The Jamaica Labour Party's (JLP) winning candidate for Central St. Catherine, incumbent Olivia 'Babsy' Grange, says unityand prosperity will be the way forward for her constituency and Jamaica at large.

"I see unity as a force that drives prosperity and, as such, it will be the method we'll (JLP) employ as the way forward and, personally, it will be no different in my constituency," she told The Gleaner on Tuesday after completing a tour that took her through several areas of her constituency before ending in Tawes Pen, where she addressed hundreds of supporters who turned up to welcome her to the area.

Ms. Grange said that, after 18 years in the wilderness, it was finally a dream come true for the JLP and Jamaica on a whole, as all stands to benefit from a change of government.

She also said that, with the JLP becoming the government once more, she realised she would now have the backing of the powers that be in making her contribution to the positive growth of the nation.

Along the tour, several residents were seen with green branches, flags, pot covers, cans, bells and whatever they could find. They shouted "Showa! Showa!" to express their solidarity and joy at the victory of the JLP and their candidate in particular.
