The Editor, sir:I returned recently from five weeks of a wonderful time in Jamaica with my family. Despite the ravages of 'Dean' on the south coast where I am from and stayed, it was great to be home from Ireland.
However, on my departure on Monday, August 27, from Norman Manley International Airport, I was truly amazed at the inefficiency of the security or check-point for us to head for the gates to board the flight. There was an Air Jamaica and British Airways flight almost boarding simultaneously and there was only ONE security personnel checking passports and boarding passes!
I was flabbergasted by the one-line-for-all and one person for hundreds of us. Where were the supervisors or whoever to see what was happening and how to be more efficient, lessening chaos and stress for the passengers and the lone personnel? If we are to be an international airport, we will need to do much better.
I am, etc.,
