KELLY
Election Day came and went. But in true Jamaican fashion, it still nuh done yet; court rulings, recounts and all that jazz still pending. Oh well, you know us Jamaicans; never know when to quit. Anyway, as promised after the nomination day awards, we have the election day awards. It's split in two.
The Good
The 'soon to be prettiest Member of Parliament' award goes hands down to Lisa Hanna. I'm definitely looking forward to those sittings of Parliament now.
The 'best impersonation of a jockey' award goes to Dr. St. Aubyn Bartlett who, like the rider aboard Miracle Man, (the horse he was chastised for caring more about than his constituents), held on down the stretch to retain the East St. Andrew from Trevor Munroe. I wonder if he showed the whip as he was heading to the line? First past the post indeed!
Still a MP
The 'how does he do it?' award goes to Phillip Paulwell who, for some reason, is still a Member of Parliament. Go figure!
'Not going down without a fight' award goes to Horace Dalley, who was chanting fire from before midday that there were problems with the voters' list.
The 'man no dead no call him duppy' award goes to Audley Shaw and Pearnel Charles for retaining seats they were allegedly going to lose.
And The Not So Good

Left: Many people were introduced to Lisa Hanna as a host on the CPTC show 'Rappin', long before she went on to be Miss World. Right: Dr. St. Aubyn Bartlett - Contributed
The 'that was a dumb move from an educated man' award goes to Norman Horne who led a busload of his workers to another constituency (which we all know is a no-no). To boot, he didn't win the seat he contested in St. Elizabeth. He gets an additional prize for renouncing his citizenship to make it clear for him to run and then didn't win anyway.
The 'mus' feel a way" award goes to Sally Porteous who lost to Peter Bunting in Central Manchester. All she did was work in the constituency for years and was deputy mayor of Mandeville. But the people have spoken. Oh well!
Impossible task
The 'at least I got my nomination fee back' award is shared by Garnett Reid, Dennis Messias and Joseph Witter. Going up against Portia Simpson Miller, Omar Davies and Bruce Golding respectively, that was bound to be impossible. Sure they had the right to run in the election, but got swamped/thumped/mashed up at the polls. So it go!
The 'nicest guy not to make it into Parliament' award goes to Delano Franklyn in St. Mary. Good try though. Maybe next time.
And the 'should have spent more time campaigning' award goes to Abe Dabdoub, who in his short time in the PNP has ticked off former colleague Daryl Vaz, carried him to court and told Danville Walkerto kibba him mouth. Hope he never needs a favour from either of them.
