LETTER OF THE DAY - Ministry clarifies process in HIV vaccine trials
THE EDITOR, Sir: We are writing to address some of the issues raised in two recent Letters to the Editor in relation to HIV vaccine trials in Jamaica. Contrary to what was stated, the experimental vaccines do not use any part of whole or live HIV and cannot cause HIV or AIDS.

Bruce shows the quality

The Editor, Sir: Portia Simpson Miller squandered the huge political capital built up since her first Cabinet position under the Michael Manley-led PNP administration of 1989. The media and the Jamaican people embraced and showered her with 'love' and admiration..

Congratulations Bruce Golding

The Editor, Sir: Let me say to the Prime Minister-designate Bruce Golding congratulations. There are many and I mean many Jamaicans in the diaspora who are ecstatic that Jamaica has turned over a new leaf. Mr Golding, there are many of us away from home who believe in you.

Not Portia's fault

The Editor, Sir: At this time, I honestly believe a lot of persons are being unfair to Mrs. Portia Simpson Miller, blaming her entirely for the demise of the PNP at the polls. I believe the Government had it coming, however slim the margin of victory was for the JLP.

Time to start a new era in education

The Editor, Sir: I read with interest about the debate on free education. Some writers have come up with the question of the cost to the country. It is important to outweigh the cost with the greater good and impact it will have on Jamaica....
