The Editor, Sir:
At this time, I honestly believe a lot of persons are being unfair to Mrs. Portia Simpson Miller, blaming her entirely for the demise of the PNP at the polls. I believe the Government had it coming, however slim the margin of victory was for the JLP. The signs were all over the wall that many things in the country were wrong and all and sundry were banking on her popularity.
It is totally unfair and to some extent unkind to place 18 years of inept practices, spiralling murder rate, corruption and state abuseof all kinds at the feet of the outgoing Prime Minister. After all, everyone or most in the PNP would be on the PNP gravy train if had succeeded. As I know Jamaicans, some are positioning themselves to be on the JLP gravy train if one exists; so dem hav fi be inna the red. So punishing her now is mandatory to them.
The PNP lost the general election by virtue of its poor performance and not as a result of Portia Simpson Miller.
