Anchovy High to play in Zone A of daCosta Cup
published: Monday | September 10, 2007

Nodley Wright, Freelance Writer

With just under a week before the schoolboy football season kicks off, the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) has decided to make a slight adjustment to two of the daCosta Cup zones in western Jamaica.

Anchovy High School, which was previously placed in Zone B, will now compete in Zone A. The 78-team competition is divided into 12 zones.

According to George Forbes, ISSA competition's officer, it was a matter of common sense.

"We decided to do this to balance the zones. It does not make sense to have seven teams in one zone and five in another. Besides, Anchovy always played in Zone A," said Forbes.

In fact, Anchovy were only placed in Zone B two seasons ago because of the greater number of teams in Zone A than Zone B. This latest change was brought about because of the withdrawals of Maldon High and Muschette.

Zone A will now be contested by Herbert Morrison Technical, Cornwall College, William Knibb High, Irwin High, St James High and Anchovy High.

In Zone B will be Cambridge High, Frome Technical, Green Island, Knockalva Technical, Merlene Ottey High and Rusea's.
