Juniors strike gold at Pan Am badminton

MEXICO CITY (CMC):

Jamaican players collected three gold medals early yesterday as the Pan American Junior Badminton championship entered its final day of competition.

Ten-year-old Sean Wilson featured in two gold medal success for the Jamaicans.

He landed the first championship win for the Jamaica team when he defeated American Timothy Lam for the Boys' Under-11 singles title 21-16, 21-17 in 20 minutes. Sean also teamed up with his younger brother Shane Wilson to capture the Boys' Under-11 doubles crown, defeating Guatemala's Elmer Tello and Jorge Saucedo 21-9, 21-7 in 21 minutes.

Jamaica secured the third gold medal of the morning when Gareth Henry upset the top seeded Bruno Monteverde Guillen, of Peru, 21-18, 21-16 for the Boys Under-17 singles title.
