The Editor, Sir:
After the JLP was declared the winner of the recent general election, Bruce Golding has exemplified a characteristic unknown to our political mannerisms. To initiate the concept of inclusive engagement, is most magnanimous, and a concept it is hoped, he will promote assiduously. This is so because enhancement of this country in terms of a retrieval from our decadent state of social, moral, economic and general decay is one that will require unity and cooperation of all Jamaicans, regardless of our status in life.
To invite the former Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition to "Join hands with me to build a nation that is strong, just, peaceful and prosperous", is most unusual for politicians and deserves high commendations. It is hoped that these deliberations will result in the formulation of appropriate proposals and programmes designed to engage all responsible Jamaicans, regardless of political persuasion, to unite and participate in the upliftment process at the personal and community levels, in order to attain a retrieval of the distressful state to which this country has descended.
I am, etc.,
