Neglected roadway
published: Tuesday | September 18, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

I would like to remind the authorities, and in particular the respective Member of Parliament, of the current state of the Lawrence Tavern to Glengoffe Main Road.

This roadway is in a very poor state and its condition is just a testimony to the neglect and poor representation that the Mahoney/ Glengoffe area has suffered over the years. The roadway is weathered and full of ditches in some areas and is quite hazardous to travel on.

The patching done early in the year was just a waste of time and money, and no real attempt has ever been made over the last 15 years to get this road in a reasonably lasting driveable condition.

Economic activities and consequent lasting development have been stymied for far too long in the entire region comprising West Rural St. Andrew and North East St. Catherine because of the neglect of this one critical roadway over the years.

I am, etc.,

RONALD PHELPS
