Wolmer's old boys general meeting today
published: Wednesday | September 19, 2007

The Wolmer's Old Boys' Association (WOBA) will be holding its annual general meeting today at the Knutsford Court Hotel in New Kingston.

The meeting, scheduled to commence at 6:30 p.m., comes after a strategic retreat held on Sunday at the Kingston offices of the Jamaica Exporters' Association, at which focus was placed on making the WOBA an "even more active, vibrant part of the Wolmer's family".

During the retreat, the WOBA outlined several objectives that it believes are critical to it's success, that of the Wolmer's Boys' School, and ultimately the development of the nation's young men over the next few years.

Social challenges

Those objectives include the development of an effective mentorship and academic support programme as well as the achievement of organisational and operational efficiency.

Among the new initiatives that the WOBA is seeking to undertake is providing mentoring for 'at-risk' boys who have significant academic and social challenges. In addition, the WOBA is seeking to strengthen the Wolmer's network so as to assist in providing employment and internship opportunities, as well as, to inform members about entrepreneurship, wealth creation, career development, pension management and entertainment.
