NEW YORK (Reuters):

THE WASHINGTON Redskins ground out a 20-12 upset road victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night to improve their season record to 2-0.

Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell completed 16-of-29 passes for 209 yards, including a 16-yard touchdown strike to Chris Cooley.

Clinton Portis ran six yards for a fourth-quarter score to seal the win. Cooley's touchdown pass had given the Redskins a 10-6 lead and they never trailed again.

"That was a big momentum swing," Redskins coach Joe Gibbs said.

Shaun Suisham added field goals of 35 and 37 yards for the Redskins.

The Washington defence held Philadelphia (0-2) to four field goals, David Akers connecting on kicks of 24, 39, 26 and 22 yards for the Eagles' only points.

Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb, making his 100th career regular-season start, went 28-for-46 for 240 yards.

No touchdown

McNabb twice had the Eagles inside the Washington 10 in the fourth quarter but could not conjure up a touchdown.

Akers kicked his last field goal on a fourth down at the Redskins four-yard line with 6:33 remaining, and with 1:10 left on the clock Washington's LaRon Landry broke up a pass from McNabb to Kevin Curtis on fourth down at the Redskins, nine-yard line.

That sealed the game for the Redskins, who sacked McNabb three times.

"I have to go out there and make plays," McNabb said. "There were stretches when we moved the ball, and moved the chains consistently.

"But it doesn't matter if you have rhythm, if once you're down there you don't get the ball into the end zone," he add. "We had some opportunities and should have capitalised."

Portis topped the Washington ground game with 69 yards on 17 carries. Santana Moss was the Redskins' leading receiver with six catches for 89 yards.

Brian Westbrook rushed for 96 yards on 17 carries to spearhead the Philadelphia running game. He also caught eight passes from McNabb for 66 yards.
