The time of year is fast approaching when restaurants in Kingston come alive with Kingston Restaurant Week (in November). Among the participating restaurants is Mac's Chop House, and last Friday, in collaboration with 1876 Wine, they presented a wine dinner in celebration of what is to come.
The four-course event featured four spectacular dishes by Chef Mario Machado, paired with four of the finest wines, courtesy of 1876 Wines.
Each dish had its own unique flavour and taste, and the wines that were paired with each dish spoke volumes. Adrian Garforth, master of wine in London, flew down to be a part of this extravagant occasion. Before each meal, he gave an overview of why that particular wine was paired with that dish; and each time he was right on the ball.
A taste of Barbados
"The aim (of taste of Barbados) is to provide a scintillating pairing of the best in food, wine, drinks and entertainment as Barbadians and visitors alike rediscover the exotic flavours which permeate the culinary soul of our island."
Home of us all - Part II
Those who read my first critique on Chez Maria sometime back in April, will know how much I praise and appreciate the food at this homely Lebanese/Italian restaurant on Hillcrest Avenue, writes Food Critic Spencer Williams.
