The Gleaner brings you highlights of the Jamaica Young People Symphony's second season of concerts, held at the Little Theatre in St. Andrew on Saturday and Sunday.
The concert was sponsored by the Culture, Health, Arts, Sports and Education Fund and showcased the talent of fine young Jamaican musicians, aged nine to 26.
Billed as a symphony of young people, for young people under the motto 'Unity Through Music', the event was a celebration of hard work and sacrifice.
Since its inauguration in August 2005, the new orchestra has been conducted by Paulette Bellamy, Maurice Gordon, Maestra Betty Patterson-Spalding, John Binns and Major Joseph B. Williams.
The concert also featured guest conductor Fermin Segarra of Puerto Rico.
