They are understudies

1. There are usually three sides to every story and, by the sound of it, this one is no different. Some say that they were placed where they are for maximum supervision. Their spin-doctors say they are understudies, to make them better equipped to take over. The reality is more like the fact that the seat count was so close, to leave them out of the mix would have spelt trouble.

No surprises

2. Then the mantra was, a dirty win is better than a pretty loss. So, no surprises here, that steps were taken to secure that win at all costs. The real surprise came from the fact that some of those who are supporting that position are usually the loudest voices calling for transparency and the integrity of the process.

Mistresses present

3. Apparently there was more than one of the mistresses in attendance.

Real big-man upset

4. The real big man is reportedly upset that his family member was not allotted one of the many high-seats that were handed out like confetti. We are told, however, that his displeasure was assuaged with the promise that the coveted plum will be the family's as soon as political correctness will allow for the dispatch of the current occupant of the office and board.

Where are the vehicles?

5. Tuesday was the ultimatum given by the successors to the one-time high and mighty to vacate their homes and for the return of the assigned transport. The trouble is, some of the motor vehicles cannot be accounted for and the homes are yet to be vacated.

Results shock him!

6. Not only has he not honoured his bet on the outcome of the elections, he has taken to bed since the night of September 3 and has not been seen or heard from since. There is even talk that he has suffered a heart attack. Others are saying he is simply eating humble-pie and staying out of sight in the hope that those with whom he placed the multimillion-dollar wager will let him off the hook.

Class and social set

7. It seems that there are moves afoot to make sure that the new administration does not go about ostracising its core base, and so, the plan is to have a representative administration as against one representing any one class or social set. And so, the word is out that board appointments and nominees should represent all the people.

Toy-boy service

8. The role of the toy-boy is for discreet outings on the north coast and/or south coast. A little tryst in Florida. Dinners and/or lunches in out-of-the-way restaurants, not frequented by your colleagues and/or social peers. And ever so often, you take him on a shopping spree for the service he is providing. In short, he is not one you profile with as, indeed, he should be thought of more as a figment of your imagination, and so, you should never appear in public with him to provide evidence to the contrary.

What's up here?

9. Did the JLP cede the moral high ground to the PNP in the matter of the issue of dual citizenship by seeming to want to win by fair or foul means in blocking the count of the ballots because they are ahead?

Why recognise them?

10. Some are more than a little concerned that the American organisation, the Nation of Islam, was accredited and seemingly afforded the status of diplomatic recognition at the recent function. What some would like to know is, on what basis were they thus elevated?
