Campion, Wolmer's to battle
published: Friday | September 28, 2007

CAMPION COLLEGE have a golden opportunity to shore up their spot at the top Group C if they can secure a favourable result when they face Wolmer's in an ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup top-of-the-table clash at Heroes Circle today.

Having not fared well in recent years, Campion are off to a great start this year having secured a convincing opening day win, a draw with former champions Calabar and then victories in their past two games.

Campion lead the group with 10 points followed by Wolmer's on nine and then Calabar, who still have a game in hand, on seven. Having dropped points with a loss to Calabar last weekend, Wolmer's will be looking to get back to their winning ways with a triumph in the key fixture.

In other games, Calabar will be favoured to keep pace with both teams as they travel to play winless Edith Dalton James, while Meadowbrook will host St. Catherine in the section's other game.

In a competitive Group D, St. George's will look to recover from their midweek loss to defending champions Bridgeport when they host Dunoon at Winchester Park.

Group favourites Norman Manley and Bridgeport will both be in action today. Norman Manley will travel to Ardenne, while Bridgeport visit Haile Selassie. St. George's and Norman Manely are both on seven points, while Bridgeport are a point behind.

In Group B, favourites Eltham look to continue their dominance when they host Donald Quarrie while a confident Kingston College tackle Kingston High.
