Girls' Beijing campaign begins
published: Wednesday | October 3, 2007

JAMAICA'S REGGAE Girls begin their bid for a place at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing when they kick off their campaign against Bermuda in round one of the Caribbean qualifiers at the Antigua Recreational Ground this afternoon.

The 18-woman squad, which left the island on Monday, has been placed in Group C, which will see them battle Bermuda, the Dominican Republic and Antigua.

With only the winner of the group advancing to the next stage - a second round which consists of four teams which will play each other on a round-robin basis - the Girls will be looking for a solid start today.

The Caribbean qualifiers feature 15 Caribbean teams in four groups in the first round.
