In Wednesday's trading session, the following reflect the movement of the JSE Indices: The JSE Index advanced by 1,086.34 points (1.12%) to close at 97,960.56 points. The JSE All Jamaican Composite Index declined by 670.87 points (0.70%) to close at 94,567.93 points and the Jamaica Select Index declined by 4.47 points (0.17%) to close at 2,565.72 points. Overall market activity resulted from trading in 28 stocks of which five advanced, 15 declined and eight traded firm.
Market volume amounted to 4,843,565 units valued at over $56.54 million. JA BROILERS was the volume leader with 2,460,671 units (50.80%) followed by MAYBERRY INVESTMENTS with 830,137 units (17.13%) and SCOTIA GROUP JAMAICA with 371,191 units (7.66%).
The board of directors of Life of Jamaica Limited has declared a dividend of 15 cents per stock unit to be paid on October 24 to stockholders on record as at October 10, 2007. The X date is October 8, 2007.
Mr. Joseph Taffe has been appointed to the board of directors of Hardware & Lumber Limited, effective October 1. As a result of Mr. Donald Wehby's resignation from the board of directors of Hardware & Lumber Limited, he subsequently resigned from the audit committee, and as such, Mr. Taffe was appointed to replace him.
