PM a Christian?
published: Friday | October 5, 2007

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Please allow me to offer my congratulations to Mr. Golding on his appointment as Jamaica's eighth Prime Minister. There is, however, one question which I feel compelled to ask Mr. Golding or any person in a position to provide the answer.

Is Mr. Golding a Christian? If yes, to what denomination does he belong, and of which church is he a member? My question comes in light of his attendance at two consecutive church services in Montego Bay and Portmore on the weekend of September 8 and 9 following his election at the polls. It would be nice to have seen him worshipping with his 'church family' following his election.

After all, it is said, 'Charity begins at home' so thanksgiving should also begin at home. With the religious hype sweeping the nation, it is important that we know the Prime Minister's religious belief because quoting of scripture and church attendance do not make one a Christian.

I am, etc.,
