The Jamaica National Heritage Trust (JNHT) has invited students from hundreds of schools across the island to come and learn more about their heritage, during its annual heritage expo at Seville Heritage Park tomorrow, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Seville Heritage Expo seeks to promote Jamaica's heritage through exhibitions, speech, drama, songs and dance. This year's theme is 'Celebrating Our Heritage … the Freedom Journey'.
The JNHT will also pay tribute to our heroes, as well as mount exhibitions focusing on Jamaica's journey to freedom, demonstrations of traditional craft, performances of traditional folk forms and drumming from some of Jamaica's top cultural groups. The Plantation House at Seville Heritage Park will also be opened for scheduled tours on the day.
The exhibition inside Plantation House details the over 1,000 years of history associated with the site, from the early days of the Tainos to their encounter with the Spanish, the capture of the island by the English and the coming of the Africans.
