Christian academy celebrates 20 years
published: Saturday | October 13, 2007

Covenant Christian Academy and Children's Centre (CCACC) launched its 20th year celebrations last Sunday with a thanksgiving service at the Assembly Hall, UWI, Mona campus.

The service was held under the theme 'United for Greater Impact', reflecting the thrust of the school to bring together all those involved in Christian education, as well those who have been impacted by the school over the past 20 years.

Dr. Henley Morgan, management consultant, author and guest speaker for the service, admonished the hundreds gathered to not forget the many in the education system who labour long and hard.

"The education system in Jamaica is much maligned; sometimes in our complaints we forget the people who are toiling, and the wonders they make each day," he declared to much applause.

15 schools islandwide

CCACC is one of the forerunners of Christian education in Jamaica. It was Covenant which introduced the A Beka Christian Curriculum and the ACE Curriculum to Jamaica. Now there are more than 15 schools islandwide that are using these Christian curricula and impacting thousands of children. In addition, three Christian schools were founded by past members of staff.

In celebration of its 20 years of achievements, CCACC has planned a number of activities throughout the academic year, chief of which is its Parenting Conference in November, which will feature the Director of Parenting Outreach at Focus on the Family, the outstanding American family values organisation.
