NOTE-WORTHY: Gender disparity
published: Thursday | October 18, 2007

Gender disparity

The debate regarding the gender disparity in U.W.I attendees, may need further input. For example, it may be helpful to determine if a similar disparity exists among local students who have opted to pursue advanced studies abroad.

The male gender tends to be more adventurous and explorative. Could it be possible, that this population may have mostly ventured overseas?.

I could be overestimating the drive and ambition of the youthful local male population. The excellence attained in sports, music, and recently in computer technology confirms that drive and ambition are not lacking. Encourage the youth!

'No' to abortion

This is a quote from an anonymous writer, "A woman who has doubts about the paternity of her embryo also has a strong reason to seek an abortion ... Abortion in this case would be justified because it is a life-or-death situation."

The above statement is shocking as no one should take the life of an unborn child - this is murder. No one should play the part of God. He gave us life and He takes life when He is ready for us. The woman's predicament is not a "life and death situation." She should be thankful she conceived a child. She should never have put herself in that situation without thinking of the consequences.

Be prepared

Within the framework of human interactions, there will always be situations that promote hidden, undisclosed and private sexual relations between men and women.

As long as there is a perception that opportunities can be gained by these women at giving a man a 'jacket' child, then men who intend to have sex with these women have to be prepared to deal with the consequences of the act (of having sex with them; even if the men practise safe sex techniques) knowing that there exists an 'occupational hazard' of being given a 'jacket' child by these women.
