Digicel launches BlackBerry product line
published: Sunday | October 21, 2007

Digicel has launched a line of BlackBerry smartphones, which came on the market Tuesday.

Under a special promotion to run until November 19, purchasers will get a 10 per cent discount on handsets as well as one month of free usage.

Prices of phones on the market now range from $40,769 to $52,419, tax included.

The BlackBerry will now be available in select Digicel stores islandwide, with "trained professionals, possessing the ability to set up and maintain the product."

Digicel is planning a range of events to promote the BlackBerrys, saying the owners of the BlackBerry line, Research in Motion, will participate in Digicel's rollout activities scheduled over three days, October 23 to 25.

BlackBerry smartphones are available at Digicel stores or dealerships at the Norman Manley International Airport, Anbell, New Kingston, Sovereign Centre, Loshusan Centre, Cross Roads, Port Henderson Plaza, Great George Centre in Savanna-la-Mar, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and Port Antonio.

The phones went on the market October 16.

BlackBerrys are more sought by the corporate or business market.

The rollout promotion starts with road shows in Kingston and Montego Bay.
