Taking aim at the meetings market, the new owners of Wexford Hotel in Montego Bay have invested $100 million in a conference centre and other upgrades to the small property.Wexford's new chairman, Carlyle Allen, said in a release that the new meeting centre can seat more than 300 delegates theatre-style and 200 for banquets.
The hotel has also increased its room count from 62 to 85 -including six new suites - expanded the front lounge and parking facilities.
The redevelopment also takes in a maintenance and landscape thrust, and is being undertaken in two stages.
Wexford was owned formerly by Godfrey Dyer, who sold the property this year at an undisclosed price.
The property under Dyer had a significant local clientele for meetings, and its restaurant.
Allen has indicated that he intends to capitalise on those markets, and has also upgraded the hotel's restaurant.
