Still firmly cemented
published: Friday | October 26, 2007

Despite the recent hubbub over cement, Caribbean Cement Company Limited (CCCL), is still making strides.

The company has attained both a ISO9001:2000 rating and the Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ) Plant Certification Mark. The former is a series of standards laid down by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO get it?). The company has to meet certain requirements. Plus, the bureau's 'mark' only goes to those companies which consistently produce reliable standards. So if they have them both, it basically means big things a gwaan!

So the big boys from parent company, Trinidad Cement Limited, joined chairman of CCCL Brian Young, as well as other senior members of staff at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel on Thursday, October 18, to celebrate the certification.

Dr. Camella Rhone, executive director of the Bureau of Standards Jamaica, praised the team for their work to achieve the milestones and challenged them, "You have now set the bar and your job is to now raise the bar."

So guests enjoyed the pasta station, fruits and music as they celebrated a milestone.
