Property problems
published: Tuesday | October 30, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

Very good editorial in today's paper (October 29, 'Judicial light on matrimonial property'). This is educational and consequently helpful. It makes me think that possibly your newspaper should think and explore the possibility of more editorials on issues connected to the judicial and legal realm as it affects the ordinary citizen of this country.

One that bothers me a lot is the one where a will is left for property bequeathed to one's son, for example. To get a title for that property that man's son has to pay a very exorbitant tax, challenging and sometimes surpassing the price that his father (through sweat and blood) paid originally for it.

Your newspaper would do very well in highlighting the inequities of some of these situations.

I am, etc.,
