Injured cycle cop needs help
published: Tuesday | October 30, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

In December 2005 I was on duty riding a police motorcycle when I was hit off by a motorist who failed to keep on his left. I have had to be finding money for my medical expenses ever since. I had surgery after the accident just occurred, but I need to do a follow-up surgery.

I submitted a request to the Ministry, but the process is taking so long. I also submitted some medical expense receipts over six months now, I received a file from the ministry over three months now stating that they are going to reimburse the money I spent and every week when I call the ministry I am given a runaround. I am now feeling severe pain and I am asking someone from the Ministry of National Security to intervene, as each time I ask the Police Federation for assistance, they tell me I was injured on duty so it's the ministry who is responsible for my expenses.
