The final leg of the Caribbean Equestrian Association (CEA) junior showjumping competition takes place tomorrow and Sunday at the Kingston Polo Club, Caymanas Estates, with Jamaica favourites to lift the title.

The action begins tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. with leaders Jamaica, represented by 14-year-old Campion College student Justin Vaz and 13-year-old Wolmerian Jason Walter, taking on closest rivals Trinidad, Barbados and Bermuda for top honours. Starting time on Sunday is 10:00 a.m.

By virtue of having won three previous legs in Cayman, Bermuda and Barbados in September, Jamaica lead the standings with 15 points, ahead of Trinidad. Accompanied by national coach Betty Wates, Vaz and Walter came good for Jamaica in Barbados and the young riders are confident of repeating their good performance.

Earlier in the competition, Bianca Fedele and Stephen McConnel won in Cayman, while Vaz teamed up with Shelby Wildish to win in Bermuda.

Each competitor will ride four different horses tomorrow when four rounds of jumping for the under-16s and four for the under-12s are scheduled.

Other local showjumpers will be on show on Sunday, as each junior outside of Vaz and Walter, will draw a foreign rider in competition.
