Gunmen kill four
published: Monday | November 5, 2007

The murder of four men on Saturday evening at the intersection of St. James Avenue and Little Kew Road, St. Andrew, has again sent the country's homicide toll climbing.

Dead are Noel Burke, 52; Bernard Wright, 47; Andrew Wellington, 49; and a man known only as 'Crime'.

Reports from the Constabulary Communication Network are that about 9:00 p.m., several individuals were at a shop in the community when a group of gunmen approached and opened fire, hitting six persons.

Four died while two remain in hospital. The St. Andrew Central CIB is investigating.

Just last week, statistics released by the Jamaica Constabulary Force indicated that the country's murder toll had surpassed the 1,000 mark.
