LETTER OF THE DAY - Negative reactions tocasinos in Buffalo
The Editor, Sir: The following are a few comments from experienced and qualified persons who have seen the negative impact of casino gambling.

Wise words onmarketing

The Editor, Sir: Permit me space to share with the new management of Air Jamaica, and the public in general, a clipping received from an associate which was lifted from the Business Digest - 'How to become a marketing superstar'.

Supporting the bereaved

The Editor, Sir: We, the members of the Anglican Mothers' Union embrace our bereaved brothers and sisters who have been plunged into indescribable grief by the cruel murder of their children. Clearly, there are fearsome and evil forces at work in Jamaica, land we love.

What about the railway?

The Editor, Sir: During the election campaign, Mike Henry, then Opposition spokesman on transport, stated that a Jamaica Labour Party government would revive the rail service.

General practitioners then and now

THE EDITOR, Sir: As a member of the medical profession, and especially as a general practitioner, I feel compelled to reply to Hartley Neita's article in The Gleaner of Saturday, November 10, titled, 'There are no GPs around anymore'.

Cuba making stridesdespite US blockade

The Editor, Sir: A letter from Pedro Dorta of Maryland, United States, was carried in The Gleaner on Tuesday, November 13. In this letter he questioned why he has to send his mother, a pensioner, money if Cuba is feeding its people.

PNP has fallen away

The Editor, Sir: I watched with much pain the Impact programme on TVJ on Wednesday, November 14, where four young, thought-to-be-bright young people were interviewed on matters of national importance and interest.

Much waste in roadwork

The Editor, Sir: This is probably an exercise in futility, but I will grab any opportunity to voice my frustration with the roads in general, which I have wanted to do for a long time but did not know to whom.

Some are more equal ...

The Editor, Sir: The article captioned, 'Tax authorities set sights on high-return schemes - Warn investors that payments are due', was found rather interesting by myself and others in the diaspora today.
