The Editor, Sir:We, the members of the Anglican Mothers' Union embrace our bereaved brothers and sisters who have been plunged into indescribable grief by the cruel murder of their children. Clearly, there are fearsome and evil forces at work in Jamaica, land we love.
We want you, our sorrowing sisters and brothers to know that we suffer with you and extend loving hands in support of you, particularly at this time. Together, we can be strong because our help is in the Lord God Almighty.
We therefore pray for those in authority, our legislators, those who administer justice, those who defend and protect the land. We pray for the perpetrators of these horrible acts, that the spirit of compassion, sanity and forgiveness may stay their hands, prevent and frustrate their intentions.
Forgive them
Likewise, we pray for you, the bereaved, that despite your present grief you may find it possible even in the future to forgive them, for it is hard to believe that they are in their right minds when they allow themselves to descend to such depths of inhumanity.
We pray for you that you may find love and comfort in the uplifted hands of your fellow Jamaicans and lastly, we pray for ourselves that we may have the sensitivity to recognise and respond to your needs.
May God bless and keep us all.
We are, etc.,
Sisters in Christ
