Orville Clarke, Freelance WriterTomorrow's weLl sup-ported 12-race programme at Caymanas Park offers two Super-6s, while the Pick-9 embraces races four to 12.
Despite an 18-1 upset by MAJOR MAYER in the MefaFone Superstakes on a day which saw a record turnover of $48 million, the second Super-6 was caught by several punters. The Pick-9, however, eluded the large crowd.
We look at the second Pick-9 which gets under way in the seventh race over the straight five course (non-winners of three) to be contested by 11 starters.
The horses to note are VERITY, MASANIELLO, MELINDAGATA, AVALANCHE and WAR LEGEND, all effective over the straight.
Tempting proposition
Strictly at the weights, MELINDAGATA (working well) looks a tempting proposition with only 47.0kg and capable apprentice Carlton Malcolm up, even though she will need to step every inch of the way in order to escape MASANIELLO and WAR LEGEND.
Race number eight, Division II of a $170,000 claiming race over 800 metres straight, confined to exercise riders, should see the speedy pair of CHOO CHOO CHOO and CHAIN OF COMMAND fighting it out ahead of OBEAHMAN and KERMIT.
MACHISMO, having worked exceptionally well since making his debut behind GOOD SENSE on September 9, gets the nod over the well-forward debutante EL PASO CITY in the fifth race over the round five course for the Royal Lancaster Trophy, while the consistent SHE'S OUTRAGEOUS should go one better at the expense of GALLAVANTER and and LADY RAKWALAAY over 1500 metres in the 10th.
Then, take SKYWAY EXPRESS (ready), who was a fast-finishing third to DIESEL in the recent Merry Deal Cup, to catch the front running UNKNOWN VARIABLE and FUSILIER in the 11th, and close off with down-in-class RIZZI LEE under new riding sensation Omar Walker in the nightpan.
