THE EDITOR, Sir:
NO ONE would seriously disagree with the editorial titled 'Bipartisan summits must be preserved' that appeared in the November 21, Internet edition of the Jamaica Gleaner.
However, the casual manner in which the unfortunate remarks of Prime Minister Golding were dismissed in your editorial was also unfortunate. A good opportunity was missed to remind our leaders that they set the tone of behaviour in the wider population. Instead, you chose to neutralise PM Golding's remarks with reference to the ill-advised pronouncements of the "leaden-tongued but noisy" PNP general secretary Buchanan, during the campaign leading up to the recently held general elections.
My late grandmother often reminded me and my siblings that two wrongs could never equate to being right. I am certain you are familiar with this well-known adage.
I am, etc.,
