The Editor, Sir:
Reference is made to a letter published in The Gleaner on Tuesday, November 27, entitled 'Minibus Problem'. In the letter, the writer outlined that a friend has been unsuccessful in obtaining a road licence to operate the vehicle, since applying to the Transport Authority four months ago.
First, we express our sincere apology to the customer for the inconvenience experienced. We acknowledge that a number of our customers are experiencing a similar problem at this time. It is a regrettable situation which we are making efforts to address urgently.
As is customary, when there is a change of administration the newly appointed minister selects new boards for the respective agencies under his portfolio. A board is now in place at the Transport Authority and the processing of new applications that were submitted before this has commenced. It is anticipated that the outstanding applications will be processed within the next three weeks.
Persons who wish to find out the status of their applications may call our toll-free line: 1-888-991-5687.
The customer mentioned in the letter is also being asked to contact the Transport Authority with the details of the application, so we may facilitate the resolution of the issue.
I am, etc.,
KEITH GOODISON
Managing Director
