20 years and going strong

Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller (centre) celebrates with Jennifer McCurdy (right) and her daughter, Michelle.

Ready, set, go ... open up, honey and let me feed you. This is what Henry McCurdy seems to be saying to his wife, Jennifer, as he attempts to feed her a piece of cake the way birds do it. The two celebrated 20 years of bliss at Fairfield Private Estate...

WESTERN BUREAU:

Cheryl Atkinson brought life to the funky chicken; Dolly Barber invented the 'termite wine' and Carol 'Bashment Granny' Blake was demure in pink. All three were enough to form a comedy club at Henry and Jennifer McCurdy's 20th wedding anniversary party.

What was meant to be a surprise party for Jennifer McCurdy last Saturday night was not only exposed by a close friend, but was transformed into an evening of wit by Cherry Johnson, Mary Chambers, David and Kitty Gordon, Mark Barnett, Everton Anderson and Ann-Marie Cadogan.

The McCurdys, owners of Last Resort Detective Agency and reknowned as Montego Bay's inseparable duo, opened up their Fairfield residence to host a large gathering of well-wishers and friends, including Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller.

Soulmate

In a speech dedicated to his wife, Henry McCurdy lauded his soulmate as the person who stayed with him, "... through thick and thin. When I was a young police officer and worked at nights, she refused to sleep," he recalled.

"She is loving and caring, and a mother to all us, even my siblings." When his mother died in 1991, Jennifer McCurdy, then nursing a six-month-old baby and caring for a three-year-old, took in his three brothers and schooled them.

Those who came out to celebrate with the couple included David Cadogan, Mark and Carlene Duhaney, Lance Duhaney, Jessica McCurdy-Crooks, Marvalyn McCurdy, Stephen and Hilma Schroeter, Barry Foster, Janet and Tyrone Richards, Wendy Ansine, Beverly Besley, Kari Morrison, Kathy Cooke, Noel Sloley Jr. and Clayton Morgan.

She looks hot in this Indian-inspired designer ensemble. Kari Morrison made much more than a statement at Jennifer and Henry McCurdy's 20th wedding anniversary party.
