LETTER OF THE DAY - Securing cash evidence
The Editor, Sir: The recent revelation of funds missing from the custody of the Ministry of Finance's Financial Investigations Division (FID) may just serve to convince officialdom that some of the efforts and resources spent on enforcement would be better spent on deterrence/preventative tools, techniques and metho-dologies in the fight against violent and white-collar crime.
Deanery Drive needs help
The Editor, Sir: Living in a cul-de-sac is a nightmare as the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) and the National Water Commission (NWC) apparently deem it unnecessary to serve people who live on Deanery Drive in Vineyard Town.
Noteworthy
Our utility companies seem not to think that they should offer good customer service. Over quite a period, the National Water Commission has been providing the Hope Pastures area with a very low water supply.
Greed overrides wisdom
The Editor, Sir: I am not a financial wizard but as a lay person, there seems to many deep-rooted risks attached to the recent slew of investment schemes in Jamaica. Most of these risks are obvious; however, here is one which may deserve some consideration by the once again 'gullible' Jamaican public - posed as a question.
Reaping what we have sown
The Editor, Sir: Corruption, illiteracy and poor parenting are some of the main roots of the tree of problems in Jamaica. Rape, murder, gang war, unem-ployment, drugs, single parents, etc. are branches from this tree which is growing wildly in every community.
