Murray's goal lifts Jamaica
published: Saturday | December 1, 2007

HAVANA, Cuba (CMC):

Substitute Christina Murray struck a second half goal that steered Jamaica to a 1-0 win over Cuba in the first leg of the two-way women's Olympic qualifying play-off on Thursday evening.

With a place in the CONCACAF final round at stake, Murray netted a fine goal in the 62nd minute to lead the Jamaicans to victory at the Pedro Marrero Stadium.

Game two will be played today at the same venue as both matches are slated for Cuba with Thursday's fixture designated as Cuba's home match. Jamaica will be the home team today.

On the back of their emphatic Group C table-topping Caribbean Football Union (CFU) series in Antigua, the Jamaica Reggae Girlz are now poised to step into the final phase of CONCACAF qualifying for Beijing, needing only a draw to advance to the next stage.
