Rally champs Jamalco face easy Open League fixture
published: Saturday | December 1, 2007

Robert Bailey, Freelance Writer

After securing the first title of the season in the Jo Wigman Rally last Saturday, Jamalco will start shooting for the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA)/Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) Open Trophy when they face Red Challenge in today's feature at the Leila Robinson Courts, beginning at 5:20 p.m.

The Winston Nevers-coached team defeated Windalco 12-6 in the finals of the rally competition and he says he is expecting a comfortable victory.

"It's going to be a easy game for us because Red Challenge is a junior league team and we are a senior league team and so this match is going to be like a practice game for us," said Nevers.

Assess team

Jamalco will be led by their experienced goal shooter, Romelda Aiken, centre, Nadine Bryan and captain, Andrea Markland. On the other hand, Red Challenge has set a target as they seek to measure their status.

Bethune Morgan, Red Challenge's coach, said: "Our plan is to score at least 20 goals against them because we want to use this game to assess my team for the rest of the season."
