The Editor, Sir:
On Monday, November 26, I posted a brief letter with four $100 notes at the Highgate Post Office in St. Mary with the intended destination being Spanish Town. At approximately 9:05 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, the recipient of the letter called to say "I told you this would happen. All I got was the note, there was no money in the envelope." I was dumbstruck for a few minutes. This was due mainly to the fact that my confidence in the postal system flew back in my face because I strongly defended it when my friend discouraged me from using this medium to send the money because her intuition told her the money would be stolen.
This experience has certainly weakened my confidence in the postal system. The money was not received.
It is my hope that an immediate investigation will be done so that this problem of theft can be addressed and no one else will suffer the inconvenience that I had.
I am, etc.,
