CHANDIGARH, India (CMC):
Trinidadian world-batting-record-holder Brian Lara endured his second consecutive batting failure yesterday as his Mumbai Champs slumped to another defeat in the Indian Cricket League (ICL) Twenty20 Championship.
Lara, who quit international cricket for West Indies after the World Cup in April, scored only four as Mumbai unsuccessfully chased 158 to win the day/night fixture at the Tau Devi Lal Cricket Stadium.
Electing to bat, Chennai posted 157 for eight off their 20 overs and Mumbai replied with 119 all out in 18.5 overs.
Attacking knock
The Australian 35-year-old Ian Harvey opened the batting and carved out Chennai's win with an attacking knock of 63 off 41 balls. Harvey, who played 73 One-Day International (ODI) matches for Australia between 1997 and 2004, belted six fours and four sixes in his innings and added 78 for the second wicket with Chris Read (34) as Chennai posted the highest total of the controversial new series.
Bowling for Lara's Mumbai, ex-West Indies pacer Mervyn Dillon picked up one for 31 off four overs and Nathan Astle grabbed three for 36.
