Crime home to roost
We are a society that glorifies gangsterism in our dressing and music. In Jamaica, foul-mouthed DJs are role models and receive huge income while hard-working teachers received pepper corn salaries and plenty of abuse from the very students they are trying to teach.
In Jamaican schools, corporal punishment, body searches and detention are now labelled as violations of students' rights. In Jamaica, we protect gunmen and condemn police informers. We shoot down every crime plan and legislation that seeks to tackle the crime monster.
Ironically, we envy the economic performance of Singapore, but turn a blind eye to their social legislation. The crime chickens have come home to roost.

A case of SUI
On the night of the September 3rd. general elections Bruce Golding's victory speech was of such a standard that one would have hoped that his officers would follow his footsteps in all there deliberations. However, ever since Mr.Golding slipped down the ladder by referring to the members of Her Majesty's Opposition in the House as having brains that appear to be infested with termites all hell has broken loose.
Joan Gordon-Webley in her new capacity as head of the NSWMA spoke of not only cleaning up the garbage on the ground, but also cleaning out the garbage in the office in reference to the staff. My good friend Everald Warmington seemed to have lost it while addressing a political meeting in Old Harbour.
In the U.S.A., there is the term 'DUI' which means Driving Under the Influence for which you can be charged but to coin a phrase, 'SUI', speaking under the influence seems to be the case with some representatives on the political platform.
The instances of brains overtaken by termites seem more common than first thought.

'Bruce head tek him?'
It would seem that our Chief Servant 'head has taken him'. I am sure I am not alone in saying how disappointed we all are with some of his recent comments and hope that he will revert to what he said on his accepting the challenge of running this country.
However, we are all sinners and we all fall short and there is always redemption and hopefully our Chief Servant will revert to gentility both in action and in speech.
