DEFENDING CHAMPIONS Har-bour View's chances of advancing to the first end-of-round final in the Cash Plus Premier League (CPPL) were dealt a setback yesterday when they were defeated 2-1 by Boys' Town at Collie Smith Drive.
Harbour View are now in a tie for third with St. Georges and Tivoli Gardens on 15 points. That sees them three points behind leaders Portmore United, who recorded a 2-1 victory over Seba yesterday. The Montego Bay team is in second place on 16 points.
Lenworth Hyde, coach of Harbour View, was displeased with his team's performance.
"I am very disappointed because we can't be leading and allowing two goals," Hyde said. "I think we didn't have the intensity in how we played because we lapsed in certain areas and the discipline wasn't there playing-wise," he said. "It is not going right for us now, but we are looking forward to our next game at Arnett (Gardens), so we will just have to regroup and come again and try and play a better game than today."
Well-deserved victory
But his opposite number, Andrew Price, was delighted with team's victory.
"This is a well-deserved victory," Price said. "I think we played very purposeful today because we knew Harbour View wanted these three points, but we also wanted them.
"We have been going through a bit of a bad patch because we have a lot of injuries and we are still also trying to get back to full fitness. However, we have the quality players who can do the job for us and I must say hats off to them because they really played well today."
Fabian Taylor gave Harbour View the lead in the first minute when he fired home a left-sided cross from Jermaine Hue from point-blank range past goalkeeper Philmore Crumbie.
Oneil McDonald gave Boys' Town the equaliser 13 minutes later when he fired home from the penalty spot after the ball was handled by Harbour View's Jermaine Taylor inside the 18-yard box.
Two minutes after the break, Boys' Town's Michael Campbell thought he had sent his team further ahead but his close effort was tipped over by custodian Dwayne Miller.
However, Campbell scored the game winner in the 77th minute when he fired home from point-blank range past Miller.
