Bad bus service
published: Tuesday | December 11, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

I am writing to complain about our transportation system. Many of the JUTC bus routes are not as organised as once thought and many buses are in disrepair and break down too often.

Some of the bus drivers are quite rude and crude to customers. They behave as if we owe them the money they are working for. Some routes have more buses than needed, for example 70, 75, 83, among others, are always nearly empty while 74, 76, 49, 44 and others are crammed.

Some routes are said to have five buses assigned to each but most times there is only one working bus or at best two.

Customers in Jamaica wake up! If you are paying for a service, you have the power to reject the disrespect shown to you and demand a refund of your money. If bus drivers and conductors tell you that you are too fat to drive on their buses, taxis are always waiting for your money.

We should boycott the buses until the drivers and conductors learn to respect us all.

I am, etc;
