To Montego Bay from my heart - Beenie Man comes to Aqua Sol on Friday
published: Wednesday | December 19, 2007

Krista Henry, Staff Reporter

Montego Bay is in for a special treat on Friday, when STAR Artiste of the Month, Moses 'Beenie Man' Davis, comes to the resort city for a worthy cause.

The dancehall artiste will be at a special autograph-signing and concert session at the Aqua Sol Theme Park.

Various charities across the island have made submissions to The STAR seeking assistance over the Yuletide period. Following an overwhelming response, The STAR has narrowed it down to a lucky few who stand to benefit.

The 'Doctor' has offered to perform for free at the event and will later choose the charity that touches his heart.

"For years, we've been doing the same things - giving donations to charity. For years I've been giving to the Beenie Man Foundation of Troubled Youth. We've been building schools. People think an artiste like me don't give back, so I'm choosing a charity to give back. I'm doing it for the people, from my heart," Beenie said yesterday.

Autograph session

Proceeds from the event will go to the lucky charity, courtesy of The STAR and Beenie Man.

The concert will begin at Aqua Sol at 9:00 p.m. with a three-hour autograph session where Beenie Man will be getting up close and personal with his many fans.

A lucky few who bring three STAR/Gleaner mastheads to the signing will get the chance to win a quad CD/DVD set of Beenie Man's albums and performances, after which Beenie will take the stage for a one-of-a-kind performance. Admission is $500.
