Prime Minister Bruce Golding is encouraging local producers and service providers to take advantage of the niche opportunities that will arise in the European market, following the conclusion of a new economic partnership agreement (EPA) between the European Union and CARIFORUM (CARICOM plus the Dominican Republic).
Similarly, the Prime Minister says Jamaica must begin preparing its projects for European financing immediately in order that the country might benefit fully from the development component of the agreement.
In that regard, he has already identified the country's education transformation programme as a possible target for financing under the EPA.
"Since it involves building capacity, things like education transformation should fit right into that because we are talking about improving our capacity to take advantage of these opportunities" he argued.
