NEW YORK (Reuters):
LEBRON JAMES became the youngest player in NBA history to score 9,000 career points in helping the Cleveland Cavaliers edge the Milwaukee Bucks 104-99 in double overtime on Monday night.
The 22-year-old registered 31 points to boost his career total to 9,028, passing the milestone a year-and-a-half younger than Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers.
"It is an accomplishment," James said.
"It is the individual hard work that I put in during the summer time. It translates into what I do now on the court during the season.
"It is a credit to myself and to the guys I work out with in the off season."
Zydrunas Ilgauskas scored the Cavaliers' first six points of the second overtime to seal the win. He finished with 24 points and 11 rebounds.
"We were concentrating so much on LeBron that we forgot about Zydrunas, and he shot the ball well," Bucks centre Andrew Bogut said.
"None of his buckets really were inside. When he shoots the ball like that, he's tough to stop."
Michael Redd led Milwaukee with 22 points.
Meanwhile, Grant Hill had 22 points as the Phoenix Suns handed the San Antonio Spurs their first home loss of the season, a 100-95 setback.
The Spurs, who got 36 points and 17 rebounds from Tim Duncan, had won 13 in a row at home.
Dirk Nowitzki had 31 points and the Dallas Mavericks held off the Orlando Magic 111-108. Hedo Turkoglu had 26 for Orlando with Dwight Howard getting 22 points and 13 rebounds.

Mike Dunleavy's 36 points led the Indiana Pacers to a 119-92 road win over the New York Knicks. Zach Randolph had 26 for the Knicks and Stephon Marbury and Eddy Curry each contributed 16 points.
The Golden State warriors ended a three-game road losing streak with a 125-117 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies behind Stephen Jackson's 28 points and 12 rebounds.
Dwyane Wade scored 30 points despite shooting only six of 22 from the floor and the Miami Heat turned back the Minnesota Timberwolves 91-87 in Miami.
Shaquille O'Neal added 15 points and eight rebounds.
Joe Johnson had 26 points and Marvin Williams 21 as the Atlanta Hawks beat the Utah Jazz for the first time in five years with a 116-111 home win.
