Tough penalties have been handed down on Elleston Flats Football Club following the attack on referee Shane Harrison two Saturdays ago, which resulted in referees withdrawing their services and postponement of scheduled matches in the Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA)/Vic-toria Mutual Super, Major and Syd Bartlett leagues for close to two weeks.

Suspension

Following a meeting of the KSAFA disciplinary committee on Tuesday, decisions were taken to suspend the team from all KSAFA competitions for the remainder of the 2007/08 season.

The clubs' senior team has also been sanctioned to satisfy the conditions outlined in the criteria document of the KSAFA rules and regulations to become eligible to participate in KSAFA-run com-petitions and re-admitted to the Major League.

According to a release from the referee's group, the disciplinary committee has requested that Elleston Flats reimburse all medical expenses incurred by referee Shane Harrison during the course of his treatment. To date Harrison has an accumulated total of $200,000 in medical expenses.

The release further stated that the football club has been mandated to pay a fine of $25,000 for breaching KSAFA's security rules and guidelines.

Home ground

Meanwhile when the club resumes participation in KSAFA competitions, their selected home ground will be placed on one year's probation. A meeting is slated for today to decide when action will resume.
