EDITORIAL - Tread carefully on new contracts threshold
We are loath to criticise the new administration's plan to lower the financial threshold at which specific government agencies can unilaterally enter procurement contracts, yet, we understand the seeming concern of Contractor General Greg Christie over the issue.

The swearing-in of Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin as the nation's new commissioner of police has been greeted with satisfaction by nearly all Jamaicans. We all hope that this new leadership will mark the turning point in our fight against crime. (Robotham)

Once there was a place called Jamaica ...

Our children's children may one day tell their young ones that once upon a time, there was a place called Jamaica. God's truth. That Jamaica was a beautiful country. There were many rivers flowing through the land and emptying their waters in the sea. The land crumpled and formed hills, and great mountains rose into the clouds, seemingly touching the sky. Christmas again

He arrived just before Christmas, slipping in while some slept and others waited to see. With a full white beard and the ability to see who has been good and bad, it is tempting to think that this is Santa Claus. However, that is "Hardley" so. (Taylor)

Why educated Jamaicans remain overseas

After almost five months of rigorous job hunting and with a genuine desire to become one of the future leaders of Jamaica, I decided to share a letter that I have written...in an effort to encourage them to voice their concerns to the Government pertaining to the issue of highly qualified Jamaicans being unable to get a job after returning home.
